Every year, GMCC hosts the Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign with nearly 300 partnering organizations throughout the state of Minnesota. This month-long campaign encourages communities and organizations to replenish their local food shelves as food shelves tend to sit bare following the winter holidays. GMCC also helps with raising funds on behalf of its food shelf partners to fill the gap in food donations during the summer.

Moving forward, GMCC will leverage its longstanding, statewide partnerships to “modernize” food shelves and help address people’s needs more holistically or more directly. In addition to traditional fundraising, we will also work to address the root causes that perpetuate structural disparities. It’s no longer about simply providing food to underserved communities, which breeds dependency; it’s also about providing basic needs, transportation, housing, literacy, and expanding economic participation.
