The Boards of Directors and staff of the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches
(GMCC) and the Division of Indian Work (DIW) are committed to continuing
our evolution into an anti-racist multi-cultural organization. We believe such an
organization:
- creates an environment that affirms and shares differences,
- ensures that cultural and racial voices are heard before policies are set and
decisions are made,
- uses resources justly with regard to race and culture,
commits to ongoing education about racism,
- acknowledges and celebrates the contributions of racial and cultural
groups,
- periodically updates and continually monitors efforts at becoming an
anti-racist, multi-cultural organization,
- encourages and supports efforts of others to become anti-racist and
multi-cultural, and
- works for racial justice in our community.
We further commit to implementing these values
in the following practices of GMCC/DIW:
- governance (all policies, practices, and structures that are instrumental to
fulfilling our organizations' missions),
- programming (what we do and how we serve the community),
- human resource development (utilization of paid staff and volunteers to
carry out our organizations' mission and implement our programs),
- community partnerships (the development of collaborations and
partnerships with diverse communities in our organizations' program
areas), and
- business and administration (accessibility of our organizations' facilities,
contracts, and business to communities of color).
